How the test works

  • 24 multiple-choice questions.
  • 45 minutes time limit.
  • Computer-based, in an approved test centre.
  • You need at least 18/24 to pass.

Question types

Single-answer multiple choice

Questions with 1 correct answer from multiple options.

Multiple-answer questions

Questions asking you to "Select two correct answers" or similar.

True/false style statements

Questions asking you to identify whether statements are true or false.

Main topic areas

  1. The values and principles of the UK
  2. What is the UK? – countries, capitals, devolved government
  3. A long and illustrious history – key events and people
  4. A modern, thriving society – culture, media, sports, traditions
  5. The UK government, the law and your role – democracy, voting, rights and responsibilities

The questions are based on the official Life in the UK handbook. They cover history, culture, and everyday life. You should be familiar with important dates, famous people, political structures, and the responsibilities of living in the UK.
